OnTurtle participates again in the 3rd Women in Transport Congress

On March 6, 2025 held the 3rd National Congress of Women in Transport, which was held at the Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos de Madrid. The event brought together more than 200 industry professionals, including female drivers, managers and directors, such as our CEO Marta Fàbregas, united with the aim of promoting inclusion and highlighting the role of women in the transport industry. The event was also attended by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, who was in charge of closing the event.

30 years promoting services in transport

Marta Fàbregas, CEO at OnTurtle, was one of the women invited to the round table “Boosting services” at this 3rd Women’s Congress. Fàbregas participated along with Alicia Ribas, Sales Director at Wtranset by Alpega, and María Martin, Deputy General Manager at Transportes A. Martín. During her speech, our CEO shared her professional career in the transport sector, and how she has worked her way up to her current position.

During the National Congress of Women in Transport, topics such as the training of professional drivers, boosting the visibility of the sector and improving rest areas for drivers were discussed. In this regard, Marta Fàbregas highlighted the commitment of companies such as OnTurtle to the welfare of women drivers and carriers. In Spain, women represent approximately 2% of professional drivers, with some 5,000 female truck drivers out of a total of 250,000 drivers.

Since our founding 30 years ago, OnTurtle has been a pioneer in the provision of multiservices. In fact, our La Jonquera area was the first dedicated exclusively to hauliers, offering secure services such as fencing, 24-hour surveillance, restricted access with PIN code, showers, toilets, laundry and a Mediterranean menu at an affordable price. Today, our parking lot in La Jonquera is considered the best truck parking in Europe for the second consecutive year, after being recognized again in the ESPORG European Excellence in Truck Parking Award.

“Impulsora de la trayectoria” Award

In addition, during this third edition of the Women’s Congress, the National Association of Women in Transport “Impulsoras del Transporte” held the first presentation of the “Impulsoras” awards. The aim of the award is to recognize women who have stood out for their leadership and commitment in the professional transport sector. Marta Fàbregas received the “Impulsora de la trayectoria” award, in recognition of her dedication and contribution to transportation during 2024.

This past year, OnTurtle has stood out above all for its commitment to alternative energies. In 2024, we tripled the number of stations in our HVO network, from 22 to 71 supply points in 6 countries in Europe. It was also the year in which we consolidated a gas network with more than 150 LNG fueling stations, strategically distributed across the continent.

We currently have a network of more than 1,800 refueling stations in 11 countries in Europe. “This 2025 will be the year of our 30th anniversary and we want to start it as we know best, which is to continue growing to accompany our customers with everything they need before, during and after their international route,” Fàbregas reaffirms.

A space for reflection on gender equality in professional transport.

This is the third edition of the National Congress of Women in Transport and OnTurtle wanted to continue supporting the initiative. On this occasion, the congress was closed by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, who highlighted the importance of increasing the participation of women in the sector to boost innovation, improve service provision and alleviate the current shortage of drivers.

The presence of women in the professional transport sector in Spain and Europe is still a minority. According to Eurostat, based on 2023 data, the proportion of women working in the transport sector in the European Union is 22.7%, while the proportion of women working in the EU as a whole is 46.6%. In Spain, according to the same source, in 2023 there were 46.6% of women employed in the labor market as a whole, compared to 22.6% of women working in the transport and storage sector.

Organized by the Difundalia communication group in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM), the National Congress of Women in Transport is an initiative that, since its inception, has established itself as an annual space for reflection and debate on gender equality in transport.

The participation of Marta Fàbregas in this congress and the recognition received reflect our commitment to gender equality and the continuous improvement of services in the transport sector.
