OnTurtle participates in ESPORG’s first Wellbeing Event in Spain
Our commitment to a safer and more sustainable type of transport, which includes a human dimension took us, this July, to Astigarraga (Guipúzcoa), where we attended the first ESPORG Wellbeing Event in Spain. A day focused on the well-being of carriers, with activities, round tables and interesting debates on the present and future of the sector.
“Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well”
On 11 and 12 July, Astigarraga hosted the first Wellbeing Event organised by the European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG) in Spain. The Wellbeing Program is a European campaign designed to improve the health, rest conditions and work-life balance of professional drivers. To this end, it connects safe driving, parking enforcement and employer responsibility with driver well-being, an issue directly related to road safety and operational efficiency.
As part of the European Wellbeing Initiative, ESPORG’s Spanish Wellbeing Event brought together companies, institutions, drivers and road transport professionals. Under the slogan “Drive Safe, Park Safe, Work Safe, Live Well”, the day combined institutional talks, activities for drivers and moments of exchange and reflection on well-being on the road.
OnTurtle will not miss this event, with which we share a key commitment: to put the people who move Europe at the centre.
A space for commitment to well-being on the road
During the ESPORG Wellbeing Event in Spain, Dirk Penasse, Managing Director of ESPORG, and Druselia Betea, Head of the European Wellbeing Initiative, presented the objectives and values of the campaign, which is promoted by the European Commission together with several industrial partners. Among the goals, there is a clear aim to foster safer, healthier and more dignified working environments for transport workers.
To this end, three round tables were held to analyse the sector and hear the voices of its players, both from an institutional and business perspective, as well as hearing about the experience of the drivers themselves, who were the day’s direct protagonists.
In addition, the Wellbeing Event offered attendees a space for self-care, with classes on stretching, hairdressing sessions and even a darts tournament, which provided a more relaxed break between the training and discussion sessions.
OnTurtle and ESPORG, a partnership for safe transport with a human dimension
At OnTurtle we take initiatives such as the Wellbeing Event very seriously, going beyond logistics to focus on the human dimension of transport. Supporting the well-being of transport workers not only improves their quality of life, but also fosters a more resilient, safer, and more prepared sector for the challenges of the future.
Our involvement in the safety and welfare of carriers is not new. For decades, we have been collaborating with ESPORG, an organisation with which we share the same vision and values for safer, more dignified and sustainable road transport. Proof of this is our flagship station OnTurtle-La Jonquera which is certified as one of the safest on the continent, in compliance with the most demanding safety standards for transport parking. The space guarantees optimal conditions of rest and protection for vehicles and their cargo, and basic services for the comfort of the professional driver, such as showers, laundry, restaurant, rest areas and 24/7 surveillance.
Participating in the first ESPORG Wellbeing Event in Spain is, for OnTurtle, another way of reaffirming our commitment to the development of infrastructure and services that improve well-being on the road and contribute to a more responsible transport model.
